Benteng Kuto Besak
BENTENG KUTO BESAK Kuto Besak is a palace building which in the XVIII century became the center of the Sultanate of Palembang. The idea of building Benteng Kuto Besak was initiated by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I which was approved in 1724-1758 and the implementation of its construction was governed by his successor, Sultan Mahmud Bahauddin, which took effect in 1776-1803. Sultan Mahmud Bahauddin is a Palembang Darussalam sultanate figure who is intelligent and practical in international trade, as well as a cleric who made Palembang the center of religious literature in the archipelago.
