BENTENG KUTO BESAK 



   Kuto Besak is a palace building which in the XVIII century became the center of the Sultanate of Palembang. The idea of ​​building Benteng Kuto Besak was initiated by Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I which was approved in 1724-1758 and the implementation of its construction was governed by his successor, Sultan Mahmud Bahauddin, which took effect in 1776-1803. Sultan Mahmud Bahauddin is a Palembang Darussalam sultanate figure who is intelligent and practical in international trade, as well as a cleric who made Palembang the center of religious literature in the archipelago. Marking his role as sultan, he moved from the Kuto Lamo Palace to Kuto Besak. The Dutch called Kuto Besak a nieuwe palace, aka a new palace.
